It included Leader of Opposition Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi and other 56 leaders. Out of 56, 38 people had given their valuable suggestions on the agenda of the meeting. Basically, discussion was held about one of the biggest scams happening in the country nowadays, that is Hindenburg revelations, the scam related to Adani and SEBI.
Demanding JPC inquiry on Adani Mega Scam
It was unanimously decided to have a nation-wide agitation on demanding two things, one is a JPC inquiry on Adani mega scam, in which the Prime Minister is fully involved and in which the financial market regulation has now been found to be severely compromised. Hon’ble Congress President and Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji had already put forward their view very strongly. The meeting of the General Secretaries and In-charges and PCC President unanimously supported that view and it was adopted that there will be a massive national level agitation on 22nd August throughout the country. In states, it was decided to gherao the Enforcement Directorate offices. Thousands of Congress workers will gherao the ED office in each state and capital on 22nd August, demanding these two issues.
One- SEBI Chairman has to be removed from that position. The person, who has no credibility at all cannot continue as a SEBI Chairperson. There should be a JPC inquiry on this mega scam. This is the one issue that was discussed.
Demand for nationwide caste census
Two, the demand was again reiterated for a nation-wide ‘Caste Census’ from the government of India. An announcement was demanded of a national ‘Caste Census’ without any delay at all. Therefore, it was decided to have a national campaign on these issues, including the ‘Caste Census’ and protection of the Constitution and reservation issues. A programme will be chalked out in detail in coming days and Party from district level to state level to national level, there will be a massive national campaign on these issues.
Demand for Wayanad Disaster as National Disaster
In the meeting, the tragic deaths in Wayanad landslide had already been condoled and demand for announcing Wayanad disaster as a national disaster had been made. Already, the Leader of Opposition put forward that idea in the Lok Sabha itself and it was already discussed about the natural calamities which happened in other parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Assam and Northeastern states. The government was urged upon to make necessary help available to these states, including Wayanad.
To protect the religious minorities
Regarding the Bangladesh issue, meeting called upon the government of India to take all possible steps to ensure that the targeted attacks on religious minorities and their places of worship in Bangladesh are stopped and to ensure that they are enable to lead a life of security, dignity and harmony.
